Introduction respiratory diseases

There are different types of biological agents such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms which could be able to have a direct effect on human health.  Among them, inhalation viruses are more important because of their rapid and sometimes uncontrollable transmission. Some of them, like SARS and MERS, became a threat to human health in recent decades. (1)

Nowadays, a virus named Covide-19 is causing the infection of more than 229 million people and more than 4.7 million deaths in the world (2). The speed of the outbreak and the number of cases has prompted the World Health Organization to announce an epidemic situation. At the same time, the different studies on the prevention methods and fabrication of the medical solutions have been evaluated. But, production of the vaccine and medical drugs takes time and needs a complete study on their effects.

Why do we need to wear a face mask?

Web adhesive?

A hotmelt adhesive web is a nonwoven fabric with bonding capabilities. It is produced on a roll with a certain width and roll length. It can be applied through a lamination machine with a continuous process. Web rolls could also be cut into a specific form for piece-to-piece lamination. It exists different weight options depending on bonding requirements.

Polyamide hot-melt material and melting point options?

Polyamide adhesive is sometimes referred to as PA adhesive. Depending on polymer structure, it can either be thermoplastic or thermoset. In the case of hot melt adhesive, it belongs to the thermoplastic family. PA hot-melt web is made from Polyamide material. When the material gets heated, it could be activated starting to have an adhesion characteristic. When the temperature goes down, the material will become solid again. From low melt to high melt product range, it varies from 90 to 200 degrees.

In our daily lives, we see textiles everywhere. In various industries, textiles are the foundation for many applications. The textile industry is also likely to innovate more quickly than other industries due to its strong compatibility. Joining materials, such as adhesive, allows combining of various substrates together, adding extra value and functionality.

Apart from that, lamination technology provides a wide range of possibilities. Innovative adhesive web even takes laminating process to the next level due to its clean and made-on roll feature compared to traditional liquid or water-based glue. It allows a continuous lamination process with higher efficiency.

What is a thermoplastic adhesive web?

A thermoplastic adhesive web is a solid material with a nonwoven structure, it’s also called a hot melt adhesive web. When we put it on hand, it feels like fabric. Depending on the machine setting, it exists in different weights and structures.

How is hotmelt adhesive web made?

A perfect adhesive web is formed from a fine fiber that is cooled down into a continuous nonwoven structure. Due to its special structure, it makes the final material very soft, flexible, and breathable.

What are some of the specificities of thermoplastic adhesive web ?

The plastic adhesive web is available in rolls for continuous coating or lamination. Additionally, it can also be made with a paper carrier or a PE carrier to transfer adhesive to a substrate or to avoid tacky problems. For roll length, they are available in 300ml, 500ml, and 1000ml sizes at 76mm inner diameter

  • To make the process easier
  • To reinforce the finishing, and upgrade the quality

Step 1 : Preparation

  • Make sure your fabric / garment is pre-washed to avoid the narrowing of the hem.

Working on more sustainable hotmelt adhesives.

We are living in a world where people are more aware of our planet and our future. We are proud to say, Protechnic, we are part of it. Our R&D department keeps searching for more sustainable and Eco-friendly adhesive materials. We have already succeeded to use some bio-based material. Today, we are even more driven to work in this direction.

Definition of hotmelt adhesive in roll

Hotmelt adhesive is also called thermoplastic adhesive. With different technology and process, it can be manufactured in a roll with different forms, such as Web, Film, Net, and Hybrid.

What is trimmed hotmelt adhesive product, and how to measure it?

A trimmed product means that the edge has been cut. There are two systems that can be applied: circular blade cutting or unwinding cutting. Circular blade cutting can make the edge very straight. However unwinding cutting, the material border is straight, when it get re-winded, the edge is not exactly neat.
